‘Robert Buckland, QC, the solicitor-general, told The Times that life sentences were planned for those who caused death by dangerous driving and for careless drivers who killed while under the influence of drink or drugs, as well as a new offence of causing serious injury by careless driving. “These will be brought in as soon as there is a legislative opportunity,” he said.’
The Government has set out their stall on this -but how much legislative time there will actually be whilst Brexit is going on is anyone’s guess.
